Sad News About Joey Grant

I spoke to Susie last night and Joey had surgery yesterday to try to repair his broken hip. His bones are so incredibly frail...like eggshells...that they were able to only put pins in his hip to hold it together and cannot cast him. He also has fractures in his wrist and ankle. He has been sedated and completely immobilized. He is strapped to some kind of traction board that keeps him completely immobilized and will be for 10 weeks. He is on a ventilator because his oxygen saturation is very low. When they went to put the intubation tube in, a large amount of fluid came up from his lungs. They are trying to figure out why and are extremely concerned about infection.

From what I can tell, he will be sedated and immobilized indefinitely and is unable to receive phone calls or visitors outside of immediate family. He has to remain as still and calm as possible.

I confess that, as I prayed for Joey last night, I cried out to God asking him WHY such suffering and misery for an innocent child. I received a vision of Jesus beaten, whipped, strapped to a board and crucified. I realized that God is not blind to this suffering and that He hurts for Joey the way He hurt for His own Son. Maybe I'll never fully understand why, in this life, there is such suffering, but at least I know that Joey is NOT ALONE. God is with him.

Caryl, do you know if Joey has an ipod or a cd player. Maybe books on tape would be good for him or music. Anyway, there will be some tough weeks ahead for that boy. My prayers are with him.

I am pretty sure he has an Ipod. I know for a fact that he has his own laptop.
