My dog Cookie has learned Spanish from my staff. He comes to work with me and my staff love him. He's become our shop dog. Let's just say that English is not the first language for any of my staff. The other day, I noticed that they would throw his ball and say something to him and he would stay sitting. Then, they'd give another command in Spanish and he would retrieve the ball. They said something else and he'd put the ball in their hand and they'd repeat the process.
After some research, I realized they were teaching him commands in Spanish like "come here," "stay," "give it to me" and "fetch." He knows my production supervisor as "Tio" which is "Uncle" in Spanish. They call Cookie "Perrito Joto," [sp?] which roughly translates "little gay dog!!" I'm not in love with this nickname, to say the least, but they mean it with genuine affection, so I don't say much. It's pretty much my doing that they call him that because I used to put his hair up in pretty barretts. That's when it started: they said I made him look like a cross-dresser.
They also call him "puerquito" which means "little pig" because he is always asking them to share their food with him.

How funny! Good for him learning spanish. Molly knows some Neplai words like basa, sit and barrallo (cat). How she hates cats and growls when she hears that.
Yeah, Missy flips her lid whenever we say "where's the kitty?" In English only, though. Cookie barks at the door if we say "Hello," "Ola" or even the Hawiian "Mohallo"
