Among the many things I enjoy about living outside of town is that there are actually farms with fresh produce nearby. It has been a fantastic summer for fresh veggies and fruit! And, I don't have to wait for the once-a-week farmer's markets, either. Right on North Ave., conveniently on my way to and from work, is a farm with fresh cucumbers, broccoli, tomatoes, corn, green beans, wax beans, flowers, herbs, you name it. And, of course, zuccini. GIANT zuccini, if you want, but I don't. They even have a 10cent tomato bin for tomatos that need to be eaten right away!! For 20cents, I can stop on my way home and have delicious homegrown tomatoes for our salads. Aaahhh....bliss!
Next year, though, we will have our own garden. I can NOT WAIT! I'm very excited by this prospect. Carl is gonna get out the rototiller and prepare a bed this Fall, so it'll be ready come Spring. Mom was saying to fence it with natural plants that deterr animals, but I'm not convinced. I think I'd rather have an actual fence with a gate, judging by the hard time my neighbor has had with animals in her garden.
Uncle Terry arrived at Mom and Dad's from Florida this weekend, so we are looking forward to spending some time with him. He already has Carl committed to fishing and golf trips.
