Yesterday, mom came by to do her exercises in the pool, so I went out there to work out, too. Cookie was sniffing around at something near the and growling at it. I went over to see what it was (expecting nothing) and found a surprisely large, intact snake skin! I measured it at 26 inches long! I don't know if Garter snakes grow that big, so I'm wondering what kind of snake has been hanging around my yard. I doubt he's big enough to actually eat Cookie, but he may be able to give one of the dogs a good bite.
This morning, I was looking out the window into the back yard and a Falcon chased a bird right past the window. The Falcon landed in the river birch not far from the deck, so I got a really good look at him. He was looking at Cookie. I'm hoping that the two problems will balance out: the Falcon will eat the snake, get full and move on.

Thank you for the use of the pool. I hope the snake moves on also
That would be a black snake skin. They are great to have in your yard because they eat mice! not dogs.
