Birthday Party

Saturday we had our 40th birthday party. It went very well. I had an awesome buffet with italian sausage, mosticcioli, bbq chicken and assorted hot dogs. Susie and her girls came over Friday night to help prep and we had a good time. There must have been 50 adults here and Lord knows how many kids! At one point, I looked in the pool and it was just a swarm of children of many ages. For a second, I thought maybe strangers were dropping their kids off!

My neighbors and Bunco friends all came. I love this neighborhood...such nice, friendly people. Samantha and her b/f, Frank, came over in the morning to help set up. She turned 17 on June 3rd. Such a grown-up girl she is. She's been working at the hospital for a full year now and recently got promoted to Phone Hostess where she takes the patient's food orders on the phone and makes sure they order the appropriate diet. So much like her dad. Her grandfather bought her a DVD on how to open a restaurant franchise, which is what she wants to do.

Charyn, Ben and Sarina made the trip and had a great time. The kids played in the pool and chased the puppy. Sarina was crushing on Uncle Joe, it was sooo cute! She barked like a puppy for him and made raspberries at him...really showed off her best material. She called him 'poppy' a couple of times which, hopefully, Poppy didn't overhear. I even got a big hug from Ben for giving him a Speed Racer t-shirt!

Joanne looked great and seems to be recovering nicely from her cancer. It was good to see them. They even helped me and Carl with the cooking and serving.

It rained for short periods a couple of times, but we had a lot of tents and nobody seemed too bothered by it.

Ummm....I need to figure out how to post photos on here. I'll put them on photobucket and post the link. I was so busy with all the food, I didn't have time to really take many! I have some of us with Joe and Joanne, though.

We had a GREAT turnout, despite the short rain showers. I've made a lot of girlfriends in this neighborhood, something I've always dreamed of.

Thanks again, Mom and Dad, for driving Doug and the kids home. That meant a lot to us. At his new weight, beers hit Carl much faster now than they did last time he drank about 6 months ago! I told him he's like a woman now. A total lightweight. ha ha
