Joey is at Shand's Hospital in Gainesville, FL. He is having surgery tomorrow (June 4) to do a biopsy on a swollen lymph node in his pelvis and check it for lymphoma. His spine has collapsed 5 inches and he is on a device to help inflate his lungs because he is having trouble breathing.
I spoke to Denise on the phone tonight. She really appreciates our prayers and sends her love.
Please pray that it is not lymphoma and for God to give Joey hope in The Lord, strength and courage to get through this. Also, pray for Denise, Larry and the kids and for God to send angels to minister to them.
He'll be at Shand's until at least Monday, then be transferred to a rehabilitation hospital in Jacksonville, FL.
Most of all, pray for his miraculous HEALING.

As usuall my thoughts and love are with them.
The biopsy has be rescheduled for tomorrow. I'll post an update when I get one.
Thanks for the update Caryl.
Denise said she'll call me Thursday and update me again whether they did the biopsy or not.
I guess whether it's lymphoma or not, the treatment he's receiving is the same as that for cancer patients, so it's pretty nasty and he is very, very sick.
Bless his sweet heart, let's all pray extra hard for him, ok?
UPDATE: Just talked to Susie at noon and Joey was being taken into pre-op to have the biopsy. I'll keep you posted as best I can.

UPDATE AGAIN: the anasthesiologist said the Joey is not stable enough for surgery and it has been postponed indefinitely.
check out what dermatomyositis is here:

All we can do here is hope, pray and wait. It is a very individualistic disease with an unknown course and may ups and downs.
I hope they have a good handle on it now.
Dad was able to talk to joey on the phone this morning so that is a good sign, that he can answer the phone and has enough breath to talk.
Dad talked to Joey and Denise today. they are going to try and do the biopsi again today.
He souned pretty good and Denise is hopeful and said he will be going the the Rehab Hospital when he is ready to be released from Sands.
Sounds like a plan, that will be hard on everyone but best for Joey's progress in the long run which is the main goal.
He will need a lot of support from the extended family to keep up his resolve to get well and stay at the rehab center until they say he can leave. Cars, phone calls and emails work.
Joey did not have a good day today. He is having a lot of back pain and they still do not have results back about the lymph node they partially removed.
